Life in the City Gardens Neighbourhood: April April 3, 2024

As Spring makes its way into Kamloops, the City Gardens neighbourhood is calling your name and inviting you to take part in a month filled with events that celebrate community, culture, and the great outdoors. Here’s a glimpse into what’s happening in Downtown Kamloops this April.

Boogie the Bridge – April 28

Join thousands of participants in Kamloops’ largest celebration of movement, Boogie the Bridge. Starting around 9:00 am at the 200 block of Victoria Street, this race is all about personal achievement, empowerment, and fun. You can choose to run, walk, or jog the distance you prefer, whether that be 5K, 10K or 21K. Along the way, enjoy dozens of bands and cheering stations and watch out for the inspirational chalk messaging. It’s a great event to spend time with family and friends while supporting the community and embracing a healthier lifestyle.

Western Canada Theatre Performances

Throughout April, the Western Canada Theatre will present two captivating performances that will keep you on the edge of your seats.

Jesus Christ Superstar (April 4 to April 20): Experience a story of passion, faith, and betrayal with this dynamic retelling of the last week of Jesus’ life that incorporates iconic music, exhilarating dances, and amazing performances.

Inner Elder (April 23 to April 27): Award-winning Cree artist Michelle Thrush takes you on a journey of self-discovery and healing as she explores her own inner elder. It’s a performance that promises to open hearts, minds, and perhaps even make you laugh.

BrewLoops – April 27

Mark your calendar for BrewLoops coming back on April 27, where good times take the center stage. As a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Kamloops’ culture through intervention style events throughout the city, BrewLoops will showcase over 25 breweries, cideries, and distilleries from across the province, local food trucks and amazing bands, with all proceeds donated back to the community. It’s an opportunity for you to sip, savour, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of the city.

Farmers Market – Starting April 20

It’s that time of the year! Starting April 20, the outdoor Kamloops Farmer’s Market returns every Saturday from 8:30 to 12:30 pm. From fresh pastries and local produce to hand-made artisanal products and gifts, this market is a must. Connect with the community and share a great time with your family and friends.

Kamloops Art Gallery Exhibitions – Now until April 6

Dive into the three captivating exhibitions at the Kamloops Art Gallery, each offering a unique journey into creativity and expression. Featuring a rich blend of visual art, audio recordings, cultural artifacts, and innovative storytelling, these exhibitions promise an unforgettable experience.

As April unfolds in the City Gardens neighbourhood, it’s the perfect time to immerse yourself in the vibrant community that defines Kamloops and create meaningful experiences in the heart of the city.
