A Guide to the Kamloops’ Farmers Market

One of the best things about living in the City Gardens neighbourhood during this time of the year is being just a few minutes away from the annual Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market. Every Saturday, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, you will find over 100 vendors on the 200 block of St Paul Street, where you can enjoy a lively community atmosphere and find some of the best local and handmade products in town!

Here is a beginner’s guide to the Kamloops Farmers’ Market:

As soon as you walk into the market, chances are you will see a long line of people waiting near the Stuart Wood schoolyard’s path. And that is for good reason. The donuts and coffee from Saorsa are a staple item here – make sure to get their early.

After you’ve savoured the donuts, if you are still in the mood for baked goods, there’s a variety of food vendors to satisfy your cravings, including Brynn’s Bakery, Horsefeather Bakery, Jo Bannock, Good for You Crepes, Not Your Mommas Bakery, Los Churros, Mary-Anns Macarons, and more!

As the summer heat begins to come through, make sure to stay hydrated with the different drink vendors, which offer everything from coffee, tea, ciders, and freshly squeezed lemonades.

Making your way through the schoolyard, you will find an array of craft and home business vendors. Discover unique souvenirs, gifts, or simply new décor for your new home at Trillium. Some of these include Itty Bitty Woodcrafts, Healing Stones, Love Me Knots, The Vintage Spoon Studio, Redemption Pottery, Kanga & Roo Craft Co., and many more.

And for plants and produce enthusiasts, you will want to take a quick look at vendors alongside Paul Street, which have an assortment of local produce ranging from sweet berries to fresh lettuce and carrots, as well as plants and flowers to decorate your living space.

As an added bonus, the market also hosts different special events every week, featuring groups like the Kamloops Brain Injury Association, Wandering Paws, and the Rotary Club of Kamloops, with many opportunities for engagement and support to the community.

If you want to keep experiencing the magic of the market, every Wednesday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm you will also find a second market on the 400 block of Victoria Street. While this one has a smaller selection of vendors, it is equally fun and a great way to support local businesses.

With summer in full swing, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a vibrant community atmosphere full of locally sourced produce, artisanal goods, handcrafted items, and most likely, a few friendly dogs. Make sure to bring your family and friends and discover everything that the City Gardens neighbourhood has to offer.
