Life in the City Gardens Neighbourhood: March February 13, 2023

March is a musical month downtown in the City Gardens neighbourhood and the melodies will keep you humming along right through to the end of April.

Canadian vocalist and pianist Sarah Slean will appear at the Sagebrush Theatre on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 7:30 pm. This Kelson Group Pops Performance will feature original music, songs by the legendary Joni Mitchell, and more all to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Thorgy & The Thorchestra, another Kelson Group Pops Performance, will arrive at the Sagebrush Theatre in style, no doubt, on Friday, March 31, at 8 pm. Described as “a one-of-a-kind, fierce and fabulous theatrical orchestra experience,” featuring legendary RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Star, Thorgy Thor, she promises to sing, play, and slay a variety of hits, some traditional, and some not so much.

The Kamloops Symphony will also present Brahms’ Requiem at the Sagebrush Theatre on April 1, 2023, at 7:30 pm. Conductor, Dina Gilbert, will lead the orchestra through one of the most iconic choral pieces of the classical repertoire. Requiem will feature a chamber ensemble of Kamloops Symphony musicians, soloists, and the KSO Chorus.

Last, but certainly not least, Western Canada Theatre will transform one of the most recognizable and beloved films of all time, Grease, into their musical du jour. Previewing on April 13 at the Sagebrush Theatre at 7:30 pm, performances run through April 29. With Saturday matinees, Pay What You Can Matinees, and Student Matinees, this musical is truly an all-inclusive event for anyone who gleefully has “Summer Nights” on a constant loop in their heads.
