The Upside of Downsizing Seminar September 19, 2022

Presented by Brendan Shaw Real Estate and Kelson Group’s City Gardens Development

Plan on downsizing to a smaller space to upsize your lifestyle? If you binge-watch home organization shows endlessly, wishing you had help downsizing, The Upside of Downsizing Seminar might be for you!

The free seminar will be held on September 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Plaza Heritage Hotel in downtown Kamloops. Brendan Shaw, REALTOR® and one of the seminar’s organizers and speakers, is hoping to share the benefits of condo living.

“The goal of the seminar is to answer questions homeowners might have with regards to selling their home to downsize and move into a condo, enjoying the benefits of condo living,” said Shaw. “For someone who is just starting to think about downsizing, the nice thing about buying a pre-sale condo is it is two-to-three years down the road, which gives you time to not just save up on your down payment but to also start the process of parting with some large items and put others in storage to get things ready for the eventual move.”

The seminar will feature a talk by Shawn Ferguson of Everything Organized Kamloops on the Top Tips for Downsizing Well. More and more Canadians are looking to downsize. But how do you go from a 2, 3, or 4,000+ square foot home to a much smaller space, ensuring you keep items that hold special sentimental value and those that will be of use in your next space, all while effectively parting with the rest? Many people are surprised by how hard and emotionally draining it can be. Ferguson has some top tips which will help those moving from a larger home to their new Trillium condo at City Gardens much easier. You’re bound to learn something new to help you effectively downsize.

Ferguson’s session will be followed by the team from Mortgage Tech and how to Strategically Use Your Equity with Sarah Mathieu.

“I’m excited to be hosting this seminar with other industry professionals including Mortgage Tech and Everything Organized,” said Shaw.

Attendees will also learn how to get more out of less space, and more about the City Gardens development. Light refreshments will follow with an opportunity for people to tour the City Gardens Sales Centre & Show Suite.

“I think one of the issues or biggest struggles people have is figuring out how to move from a large house to something smaller. But, if you are buying a condo, especially at Trillium in Kamloops’ downtown, it is not just the interior space you are utilizing,” noted Shaw. “Condo living might mean choosing to downsize, but it also gives so many more amenities, with many restaurants and cafes in the vicinity, plus a greater sense of community living with a smaller, individual footprint. Downsizing is a lifestyle change and we want to help people prepare for, and welcome, this change.”

Attendance to the seminar is free; however, as entry is limited to 100 attendees, people are encouraged to sign up in advance via the Eventbrite link.
