Life in City Gardens Neighbourhood: May 2026 April 13, 2026

May settles into Kamloops with a different kind of rhythm. As the days lengthen, the riverfront bustles with activity, encouraging us to spend more time outdoors. What truly distinguishes this time of year is not just the abundance of events but how effortlessly they can blend into your daily routine.

At City Gardens, everything is within easy reach, so you don’t need to plan. You can simply step outside and immerse yourself in the lively happenings around you.

A Spring Start at Riverside Park

As the fun begins at Riverside Park with the KBIA Turtle River Race and Bike Rodeo on May 3, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

It is the kind of event that feels light and easy to join. A casual afternoon with a BBQ, kids riding through the bike rodeo, and people gathering along the river for the turtle race. Thousands of numbered turtles drift downstream, and for a few moments, everyone is watching the same light, playful scene.

It is relaxed, community-driven, and exactly what early May should feel like.

Coming Together Through Shared Experiences

Later in the month, the Sandman Centre hosts An Amazing Race to Inclusion on May 29, running from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The atmosphere here feels more interactive and team-focused. Groups move through challenges together, building connection through small moments of collaboration. It is less about competition and more about participation.

Being able to walk over, take part, and head home just as easily makes events like this feel accessible.

Along the River, All Week Long

At the end of the month, Riverside Park stays active with the Kamloops Open Pickleball Tournament, running from May 29 to June 3.

Whether you are playing, volunteering, or quietly passing by, there is always something happening. Courts are full, people gather along the sidelines, and the riverfront feels lively throughout the day. It is something you can step into for a short time or stay longer, depending on how your day unfolds.

Part of Everyday Living

From Riverside Park to the Sandman Centre, everything mentioned here is within walking distance of City Gardens. With Riverside Park just a 5-minute walk away, it is easy to head out and find something going on whenever you feel like it.

Experience It for Yourself. If you are curious what this kind of day-to-day living feels like, it is worth seeing it in person.
