Fall in Love with Downtown Kamloops
As September arrives in Downtown Kamloops, the first hints of Fall can be felt in the cool breeze and the winding down of Summer. In this transitionary month, City Gardens residents can embrace the changing of the seasons by getting out into the community and exploring a variety of local delights, only a quick five-minute walk away.
Celebrate Vibrant Stories at the Indigenous Film Festival
Look no further than the Paramount Theatre, located on the corner of 5th avenue and Victoria Street, for your next movie night! From September 26th to 28th, leading up to National Truth and Reconciliation Day, the Kamloops Film Society will be hosting the Stseptékwles re Sk’elép (Coyote Stories) Indigenous Film Festival, in collaboration with Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc. This amazing festival will feature a wide variety of feature-length and short films, all created with passion and care by Indigenous filmmakers and artists. Up first, look forward to the September 26th screening of “Sweet Summer Powwow”, which will be followed by an exclusive post-viewing discussion with director Darrell Dennis and actor Tyler Peters! Additionally, two free short film showcases will be held on September 27th and 28th, highlighting the themes of “Emerging Artists” and “Indigenous Without Borders” – be sure to reserve your seat!

Dive into the Arts at the Kamloops Art Gallery
Right across 5th avenue from the Paramount Theatre, the Kamloops Art Gallery is a wonderful space to experience the arts, tap into your creativity, and perhaps even learn something new about the world.
From now until September 12th, let yourself be transported into the world of “Dancing Through to the Other Side”, an interdisciplinary exhibition in the Main Gallery, created in collaboration between artists Justine A. Chambers, Luciana Freire D’Anunciação, Tanya Lukin Linklater, and Andrea Nann, Dreamwalker. Weaving Indigenous ways of knowing through beautiful installations including video rooms, sculptures, and dance, the artists use movement to convey stories of culture, dreams, and personal experience.
